Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate pot odds?
Pot odds compare the bet you must call to the size of the pot. If the pot is $100 and you must call $50, you're getting 2-to-1 — you need to win more than 1 in 3 times (about 33%) for calling to be profitable.
What is the rule of 2 and 4?
A quick way to turn outs into equity: on the flop with two cards to come, multiply your outs by 4; with one card to come, multiply by 2. Nine outs (a flush draw) is roughly 36% on the flop, 18% on the turn. This calculator shows both the quick estimate and the exact number.
What are outs?
Outs are the unseen cards that complete your hand. A flush draw has 9 outs (the 9 remaining cards of your suit); an open-ended straight draw has 8.
